Canada’s Armed Forces is now allowing permanent residents to join the military
The military is making major change to its recruitment policy.
Last week, the Canadian Armed Forces announced on Instagram that permanent residents will soon be able to join the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF).
The message arrived a week before Remembrance Day, which is 11th November’ 2022
Every November 11, Canadians gather to honour the contributions and sacrifices of members of the armed forces. The tradition began at the end of World War One in 1918 and commemorates the official end of the war at 11 a.m.
Canadians frequently attend ceremonies at local cenotaphs to honour and remember those who have served. Others simply stop what they are doing for two minutes at 11 a.m. to reflect in silence.
The Department of National Defence (DND) is expected to make a formal announcement in the coming days regarding the change to the policy. Until now, permanent residents were not allowed in the CAF due to issues surrounding security clearances. However, the CAF is facing an urgent shortage of recruits.
Opening up a world of opportunity.
