Canada’s job vacancies reach record high in healthcare and social assistance sectors

The August payroll employment and job vacancy report from Statistics Canada shows 152,000 vacant healthcare positions

Statistics Canada has released its August 2022 report on payroll employment, earnings and hours, and job vacancies.

This report counts the number of employees in Canada's labour force who are currently paid, how much they earn, and how many hours they work.

The report also tracks job vacancies, which are positions that were previously filled by an employee but are now vacant for any reason.

Last August, there were 958,500 open payroll positions in Canada. Overall, the report found little change from the July data, but a significant change from August 2021, when there were 919,200 job vacancies.
